Woody “Woodrow” Woods, also affectionately known as Uncle Woody, has been a pillar of the Charleston, WV community for over 25 years. He began his career as a radio host on the night show at WJFX Foxy 107.9 in Fort Wayne, Indiana before taking the reins of his own afternoon show, “The Woody Woods Show”, on 98.7 The Beat in Charleston. With over 18 years as the Program Director on WRVZ, 98.7 The Beat has been one of the top radio stations in Charleston WV!! Woody is now the afternoon On-Air personally and Program Director for WRVZ 107.3 The Beat. Woody’s impeccable timing, witty humor, and unwavering work ethic have made him a household name. As a trailblazer, he became the first African-American Male in West Virginia to host a full-time FM radio show, and as a member of the world-renowned CORE DJ’S, he has shared the stage with major artists like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Boyz II Men, and Lil Wayne and more. 

Beyond his professional achievements, Woody’s true passion lies in giving back to the community. As an active mentor for at-risk youth and honorary coach for local little league and high school teams, Woody dedicates his time to positively impact the lives of those around him. He also visits schools to read to children, and is a driving force behind the annual 98.7 The Beat Back Pack Attack, providing school supplies to hundreds of young students. A proud father of five, Na’Syia, Iverson, Armani, Peyton, Kaydence and one grandchild Nasir! Woody’s unwavering commitment to the Charleston area is evident in his tireless efforts to support children with cancer through his advocacy for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Uncle Woody truly embodies what it means to be a dedicated and community-focused individual.
