About the Show
George Mitchell, affectionately known as “Gee Money,” hails from Charleston, WV, where he spent his formative years attending public school in Kanawha County. Following high school, Gee embarked on a journey with the US Army, traversing the globe before returning to his roots. Back in Charleston, he dedicated his time to supporting fellow military personnel through the American Legion. Transitioning into civilian life, Gee briefly contributed to Ticketmaster’s payroll department before finding his niche at the State of West Virginia DHHR’s Accounting Department.
His path took an exciting turn when 98.7 The Beat launched, leading Gee to cross paths with Woody Woods, a pivotal moment that sparked his radio journey. Starting as a volunteer, Gee’s dedication caught attention, propelling him into the promotions department. With perseverance, he earned airtime, initially voice tracking overnights before securing a live show on Sunday afternoons. Presently, while maintaining his role with the State of West Virginia, Gee continues to captivate listeners every Sunday from Noon to 4 pm with “Your Sunday Sit Down.”
Beyond the airwaves, Gee’s heart for community shines through his involvement in organizing impactful events such as The Beat Backpack Attack, supplying essential school items to countless students in Charleston. Additionally, his unwavering support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has contributed to substantial fundraising efforts during the station’s annual Radiothon.
In his personal life, Gee treasures family above all else, cherishing moments with his son, two godsons, granddaughter, and god granddaughter. For Gee, family truly is everything.
